FYI this morning meeting chaired by DRED Commissioner George Bald will review the Resort’s proposed Master Development Plan and the accumulated public comments received during the past 2 months.

I’ll be attending to follow up on my July letter asking for two modest improvements in the MDP:
REQUESTED REMEDIES:
SIGNAGE: I am writing to request that the Master Development Plan for 2009-2014 include language asking the leaseholder, Mount Sunapee Resort, to be responsible for installing four trail signs: 1)  at the base parking area (trailhead for the Summit Trail), positioned between the NEHSA and Learning Center buildings; 2) on the peak at the Summit lodge stairs (pointing to the Summit Trail); 3) at the Ski Patrol hut (pointing to the Solitude Trail); and 4) at the base of the Rim Trail (Williamson ski base), indicating the trailhead.
TRAIL MAP: Also, I am requesting that the MDP include the task of updating and making available to the public maps of Mt Sunapee State Park to clearly show all 9 hiking trails within the park.  These are: Summit Trail, Solitude Trail; Monadnock-Sunapee Trail, Newbury Trail; Andrew Brook Trail, Rim Trail, Province Trail, Goshen Trail, and the SRK Greenway, which uses the Newbury, Solitude, Summit and Province Trails on its way from Newbury harbor to Goshen’s Old Province Road. Very good examples are trail maps for Pillsbury SP available on line and for Rollins and Winslow SPs available on paper at Park entrances.
